# Ask for help: Why the author of commit is null?

As shown above, the author field is null. But I can see the author’s info on github. What’s the logic?

@fansi404, if you go to the [url](https://github.com/qiniu/goc/commit/f9871ffa924e9f6ce7e720050c8618694c7a03cc), you’ll notice that the user is not a GitHub user, or that the email of that user ([jin.wangwj@shopee.com](mailto:jin.wangwj@shopee.com)) is not connected to a GitHub account.
