Unable to find commit in Gitlab: Some commits have messages some others don't

Description

Hello! We recently started seeing problems when browsing the Codecov web-app: some commits have the message and some it says Unable to find commit in Gitlab.

I am using my personal account as team bot.

It’s strange because some times we do get the commit messages fine under https://app.codecov.io/gl/watchity/frontend/commits, so it’s not all black or white, it seems some situations produce readable commit messages and some others don’t.

If I click on the commit on the Codecov web app I go to https://codecov.io/gl/watchity/frontend/commit/2a63ea4f69dbf4c3a4446f3a47526b4e8b1e9646 and I can read a warning saying Waiting for CI to complete. Please review report with caution, it may change.

The GitLab pipeline that pushed these changes produced various coverage files that we upload to codecov by running the uploader many times. I will attach their outputs on the section below.

Expected Results

The expected result is to be able to see the commit message from the codecov web app.

Actual Results

Some strange state is left:

  • The commit message is not shown.
  • Codecov understands the status of the pipeline as being “pending” when it already finished.

Maybe I am missing something… Maybe Codecov does not like multi uploads… I only upload coverage on pushes on certain branches so we don’t run over the limits of uploads.

@docwhite this looks like a team-bot issue. Can you have the user specified as the team bot in the codecov.yml log out and log back in?

Please note, this may be a recurring issue to bring up to that user until we can get this fixed.

Great! I just did what you suggested (logging out from both Codecov and GitLab) and run another pipeline and see what we get. I understand it make take hours for the refresh token to happen, so I will report if the commit message succeeds. I do not believe I get the

{"error":"invalid_token","error_description":"Token is expired. You can either do re-authorization or token refresh."}

as you mention in the GitLab Private Repositories token refresh issues but I understand it might be related.

I will keep an eye on the other ticket.
